Affiliate Marketing – Making Money from Blogging through Affiliate Window

Last month, I set up an account with Affiliate Window to improve the affiliate marketing on my blog. A month later, I’m £136.10 richer, purely on affiliate marketing alone, and that’s just the start! Today, I’d love to introduce you to Affiliate Window to help you to earn online.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing basically means that you market the products of other businesses, and if someone makes a purchase via your link or blog, you get a percentage commission for that. For example, through Affiliate Window I have partnered with TripAdvisor. Anytime someone books a hotel with TripAdvisor through my site, I then get 30% of the booking fee. It might not be a lot initially but it all adds up!

What are the Benefits of Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate Marketing means that you don’t have to worry about product development or keeping your customers happy and engaging with them. You simply make a referral, passing them on to another company that can provide what they need.

The main advantage of affiliate marketing is that it is passive income, and income that will always grow. For example, let’s say that you write 100 blogs in your first year of blogging and include affiliate links on them. Then, a year later, you write another 100 blogs with affiliate links, and the following year another 100. After three years, by law of averages, you will probably have 3 X the affiliate marketing income compared to year 1. This will only ever keep growing, because you are never going to have less blogs, more likely you are always going to add to it. Your initial articles will continue to make you money as your new articles make you more

In short, this is the perfect way to earn a passive income while you travel! Want a few weeks off? Or need a break for family time? No worries, you will probably find the money still comes in. Once they are online, your blogs work so you don’t have to!

Why Affiliate Window?

Affiliate Window are the biggest and most popular UK based affiliate marketing dashboard. It is an easy to use platform, and gives you daily, weekly or monthly reports on the performance of your link clicks and conversions.

Most importantly, AWIN offers bloggers the chance to partner with some big names out there. In my case, Affiliate Window has enabled me to partner with TripAdvisor, booking.com and laterooms.com. And there are plenty of other opportunities for bloggers outside the travel industry too, for example in fashion, financial services and entertainment.

How do you set up an Affiliate Window Account?

Set Up is easy and straightforward. You go to affiliatewindow.com and set up an account. You will be asked to input your blog details and personal details. You will need to pay a £5 deposit which is simply to verify your identity and payment – you will get this back as soon as you earn and start to withdraw from your account.

Once your account is set up, it is a good idea to add a profile photo and screen shots of your google analytics. I’ve found that brands are more likely to work with people who have these things set up.

Then you are ready to apply to partners for affiliate marketing. Generally, you will apply and specify that you are marketing by blog content (unless you engage in paid advertising or PPC which you must declare). It’s fine to apply to work with more than one advertiser at a time – I started off applying to 10 advertisers. Now, a month on, I have 30!
How to join a new advertiser on Affiliate Window.

Advertisers will usually accept or reject you with around 10 days, sometimes longer. Most applications are accepted, but if you are refused, it may simply be because their brand does not fit inline with your blog.
As soon as you have a few partners, you are ready to go ahead and start advertising. Collect your affiliate link and paste it in appropriate places on your blog. Watch your stats to see which links are getting you the most click throughs and commission.

Affiliate window allows you to add deep links too, which are more specific links, e.g. instead of sending traffic to www.tripadvisor.com, you can send traffic to a specific hotel review on trip advisor such as Top Trip Advisor Hotels is Marrakech and it will still earn you commission. Deep links are often more relevant and therefore more ‘clickable’.

If it initially sounds like a lot of work to add affiliate links into all of your blogs, don’t worry, just pace yourself.  When I joined Affiliate Window, I had over 300 blogs and inserting links into all of these seemed very daunting. So, I set myself a target of updating one or two per day, which means that all of my blogs will have affiliate links in them within the next 6 months to a year.

Look at your Google Analytics to find out which are your most popular blogs – the ones that receive the most traffic – and monetise those with affiliate links first of all. Then you can roll this out to all of them.
