Where to Stay in Thailand

Where to Stay in Thailand

You are likely to start or finish your Thailand trip in the capital of Bangkok. For the best temples, head North to experience the delights of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. For ancient temple ruins, don’t miss Sukhothai Historical Park and Ayutthaya. If you are a sun seeker looking for the beaches that Thailand has to offer, head South to the islands including top destinations of Phuket and Krabi. This article explains where to stay in Thailand.

Ayutthaya

For ease of access to the historical sites of Ayutthaya, I recommend staying no further than 2km away from Wat Mahatat. My top choice is Sala Ayutthaya, a 5 star hotel just 1.1km from Ayutthaya city centre.

Bangkok

The main Bangkok temples are positioned along the Chao Praya river, and most 5* hotels along the river have their own river boat to escort their guests. I recommend choosing a hotel that has this option as it makes visiting Wat Pho, Grand Palace and Wat Arun much easier. The Shangri La is my top choice.
