Non Material Travel Gifts for Him – Ideas for the Minimalist Man who Travels
Many travellers and backpackers are into minimalist backpacking and don’t like to have too many personal possessions to weigh them down. So gifts such as flight vouchers, restaurant vouchers for meals out and ‘Red Letter Days’ are always a good option.
You can even consider some ‘discussed presents’ such as a year of travel insurance or an online travel blogging course (see my Superstar Blogging Review). Of course they need to be discussed to meet their needs, but many travellers would be appreciative of this rather than opening a load of stuff that they might never use and leave at home! A great idea for photographers for example, is the gift of Smugmug so that they have somewhere to store their images online.
For stocking filler types, consumables are always good for travellers, such as a bottle of wine, beer or whiskey, depending on what they drink.
My favourite idea is to gift an experience – promise them a weekend on trekking in Snowdonia or sailing in the Lakes, depending on what activities they are into. You can design a card with images and promise to organise this, they you can cover the costs but plan it together in the new year.
